Book Sale Questions Answered

Our September Book sale was a wonderful success. The Friends of the library truly appreciate the community support.
Thank you to all who have donated books, games and puzzles  for the sale.
Thank you to our faithful as well as new patrons who purchase these items during the sale.
Thank you to the sorting room and sale volunteers as well as the town and library staff who support our book sale efforts.

The format of our sales has gone through some adjustments over the last 3 years.  Hopefully these frequently asked questions and answers will provide some valuable information.
1.  Do I have to be a Friends member to come to the sale Thursday night?
We no longer have a member only night. Everyone is welcome during all sale hours.

2.  Do you hand out admittance numbers prior to the start of the sale?
We no longer give out numbers.  We ask that you line up in an orderly manner, using the honor system .

3.  When is your half price sale?
We no longer have half price days during our book sales. Price lists are posted throughout the room and are consistent during the length of the sale.

4.  Why are some books marked with higher prices?
All donations are examined for condition and value. Is an item has a special price it may be new, old, or has value in some way.

5.  Do you have any “old” books?
We will have a special collection of “Rare and Unusual” items at our November sale, November 9-11. These are items that have been researched and will have special prices.

6. Is there a bag sale?
We will have a bag sale on the last day of our November sale, the final sale of the year. This will be during the last hour of the sale on Saturday, and the current price per bag is $3.  You may bring your own bag ( the size of a Wegman’s  reusable bags) and you may fill as many as you like.

7.  Do you take credit cards?
YES!!! We take credit cards and ApplePay!!

8.  What is the benefit becoming a member?
Paying membership dues is another way to help support the library. Along with your donations of books, and participation in our book sales,  your membership dues are all used to enhance the Pittsford library.
