A Word About the Friends

The success of any organization is dependent on strong and consistent leadership. The Friends of the Pittsford Library is governed by an Executive committee, which has been blessed with amazing individuals who serve in the role of President. For almost 30 years, 3 volunteers have led this organization and provided that consistency. Neil Richards served as President for 21 years, and Pam Burch carried the torch for the following 8 years. The Friends are starting another new chapter and are excited to welcome Nancy Dhurjaty as the Executive Committee President   beginning in May 2023. Under Nancy’s leadership, The Friends of the Library will no doubt continue to thrive in its support of the Pittsford Community Library.

The president of the Friends leads the organization, supports and carries out approved initiatives and may appoint Executive Committee members to special assignments. Further, the President maintains contact with other Friends organizations and monitors technology and innovative trends that can better support our library and community.

The role played by our community is critical too: When community members donate books to the Friends of the Pittsford Library, our organization sells those books during regular book sales throughout the year. The funds obtained by those sales are then given to the library to purchase books and other materials for the library. Funds are also used to support various community literary programs and update library technology. Additionally, when community members make monetary donations, those funds are also used to support the library and literary programs. 

None of this would be possible without the incredible support of our community members that generously donate their time, money and materials to support the work of the Friends of the Pittsford Community Library. The Friends continue to be amazed, and greatly appreciate the community involvement that continues to make this organization so successful.
